Classic camping setup video with frontier skills meeting 20th century. Take a look back at the 1920s era style of camping with Steve Watts.

Steve Watts is a prehistorian and directs the Aboriginal Studies and the Traditional Outdoors Skills Programs at the Schiele Museum of Natural History in Gastonia, North Carolina.

Steve Watts has wtitten many papers dealing with history, culture and technology. A collection of his writings, Practicing Primitive: A Handbook of Aboriginal Skills was published by Gibbs Smith Publishers in 2005. He completed his undergraduate education at Appalachian State University in 1969 and received his master’s degree from Duke University in 1971.

  1. I have always wanted to try out the more comfortable and laid-back camping style. Would be a great set-up for a week long basecamp. I just wonder what happens to that bed when it rains.
